Music for All Ages
Lower School Music:
Pinewood offers a diverse music program where lower school students attend weekly classes where they sing, dance, play, and learn about various instruments from around the world. The students also have opportunities to perform multiple times throughout the school year. From the Halloween Performance to the Holiday Extravaganza to Grand Day, young Panthers are honing their music skills and getting comfortable performing on stage.
In addition, it is important for young musicians to experience festivals as they continue to grow in their music education experience. For the past ten years, our Lower School Choir and Handbell Choir have received a gold rating at the annual SCISA Music Festival.
Upper School (MS & HS) Music:
Guitar: Students learn to read music in standard notation, tablature, and with chord charts. Each grade level guitar ensemble will perform approximately four pieces for the concert at the end of each semester. Select classes will participate in the SCISA Music Festival as well as in outside competitions such as Carowinds Festival of Music.
Vocal Music: Students learn to read music, and sing together in harmony. This class also acts as a semi-private voice lesson, as we work to perfect our vocal technique for both a solo and group performance.
