Adventures at Earthshine
This was the 9th year for the 9th grade class trip to Earthshine Mountain Lodge in
Lake Toxaway, North Carolina.
The 9th graders and their chaperones spent the holiday weekend in the mountains participating in the SUCCESS program that stresses personal accomplishment as well as team building.
Trip coordinator Deidre Hawes noted, "My goal for the trip has always been to build class unity by providing an opportunity for the students to interact with everyone in their class."
Mrs. Hawes noted that she is always surprised and pleased by students who "step it up" and solve a problem especially during activities like the Group Initiatives or King's Quest. The trip is a true adventure as noted by the students favorite activities which were the Zipline and High Ropes. Both events challenge the students to take on tasks they probably have not done before and to support each other. Most importantly, according to the students the food was great!
When the day's adventures were behind them, the group found time to unwind with a campfire, roasting marshmallows, and a fun square dance as well.
Thank you to all the teachers who chaperoned this exciting class trip.
